Just in time for the sun-drenched season, the “Rhubarb & Rugosa Rose” series returns with an enhanced formula, featuring a generous blend of rugosa rose fruit^*1, naturally rich in vitamin C.
In addition to the renewed Cleansing Water and Oil-in-Serum, two new face mists have been introduced, completing a refreshed lineup of four products.
Rugosa rose fruit is rich in nutrients, particularly vitamin C and polyphenols. It is said to help promote a clear ^*2 complexion and is also associated with anti-ageing ^*3 benefits. In addition, rhubarb^*4 is known for its malic acid content, which is believed to help soften dead skin cells.

We began reviewing the “Rhubarb & Rugosa Rose” series in 2024. This was prompted by a conversation with Mr. Kamide, a producer, who shared that he had been unable to harvest rugosa rose petals in Okoppe Town, Hokkaido, as originally planned.
He explained that intense summer heat caused the flowers to wither, while prolonged heavy rainfall meant they missed the optimal harvesting period. However, he also noted that the rosehip berries themselves were still able to be harvested. This led us to take a fresh, unfiltered look at rosehip as a raw material.

“Sour, but delicious!” — that was the unanimous reaction from our planning and development team when we first tasted rosehip berries.
Flowers, stems, leaves, and fruit: when ingredients arrive at our development lab from growers, we always begin by taking a moment to appreciate their aroma and taste them ourselves. We believe that ingredients which taste good are also good for the skin.
The flowers release a faintly sweet, elegant fragrance, while the fruit is pleasantly tart. We were truly moved by their flavour, and this experience inspired us to create products that bring out the very best in these ingredients.

Working in harmony with nature and focusing closely on the ingredients available to us, we aim to utilise their full potential to evolve our beloved products into something even better. The new “Rhubarb & Rosehip” series is the result of SHIRO’s dedicated approach to craftsmanship, rooted in a sincere relationship with our ingredients.
